42 David Sanchez from australia: No doubt the wisecracks from jim and his demeanour were a standout for me. What a legend of a show starring a legend of a man.
41 Janet Foster=smith from Rainham Mark: I agree with Salvador Psaila. It's worth watching the whole series again. fantastico
40 Gerard Francis Cutolo from New York: I love Jim Rockford!
39 ADM from Laconia, NH: I've always been a big fan and watched the series during its initial run. I even saw the first episode back in 1974. Being a car guy, I always looked forward to the car chases. I get to watch it on retro TV out of Massachusetts every night at 10.
38 Mike Baldock from Essex Coast, Englad: James Garner and The Rockford Files is the only reason I bought a TV when I moved into my first flat, having previously watched it fervently at my parents house. Recently I watched, I think, all of the re-runs on digital and my opinion is still unchanged. Love any of the episodes with Angel or Beth. Shame the series had to end, but all things must I suppose. Favourite scenes are when Jim gets his little printing kit out in the car!
37 Steve from Phoenix, Arizona: One of the best TV shows ever!! The best episodes were with Tom Selleck as Lance White ("Lance is perfect") and Freddie Beamer. Gandy Fitch was great, too.
36 Lucas Holt from Dayton: Two reasons for loving Rockford, ok, three. Gandolf Fitch ( Issac Hayes ) with the " Rockfish ", Stuart Margolin is a terrifically talented actor, as well as director, and finally, and most importantly, Jim Rockford stands nearly alone in TV history as a rugged, handsome, tough-guy, type of character that kept his stature despite tremendous *ss whuppings nearly every episode! Name another??!!
35 Teresa from california, usa: I will always love the Rockford Files. It's been 33 years, and it's like family. It's fun, inventive, adventurous, and witty dialogue. I love when Rocky said, "this place looks like the bathroom at Montgomery Wards!" So few of us left who remember Wards. Or Jim, "Oh, you haven't lived till you've tried to serve me with a suppeona. It's a career specialty...ducking process servers."
34 David Duchaney from Norfolk Ma: Unknown character: "Admit it Rockford, you"re just chicken!"
Rockford: "Of course, that goes without saying!"
Love THE FILES!!!
33 Greavesy from London: The best TV detective show without doubt. Arghh... I've been punched in the stomach again. Call Dennis!
32 roy batcoe from isle of wight uk: its the best till this day evry 9 am week day i start my day with jim i live in a beat up trailer by the sea kind of familiar good watching even if its a bit dated james garner best man of his time...
31 John A Barrett from Hastings UK: The Rockford Files is to me one of the top 5 american tec series
30 Brendan Murphy from Ireland: Simply the best...laconic ,
realistic , offbeat and
complex ...Chandler , Hammett
and MacDonald would have
donated eye teeth to create
him ...it may be 30+ years
old but it`s still one of
the most stylish , well-
written, fondly-remembered
shows of all time .
29 Steve from Kent, UK: A cool, funny series with a great cast and a great car.
28 alf_kennedy from Petts Wood, Kent: Reference Lionel Murfet's query on ringtones, there's a website with the music. Meanwhile, Jim's phone rings and he delivers his message every time I receive an e-mail. Drives 'em mad at the office!
27 Mike Hack from Fremont, CA: This is Jim Rockford at the tone, leave your name and message and I'll get back to you. "Hey, Jim, it's Chuck Jones, what did you do to your hands, son? Three fractured knuckles? You hit somebody?"
26 Lionel Murfet from England: Just love the opening music and the answerphone message at the beginning of each episode, they are some real gems.
Anyone know if the music is available as a ringtone?
25 Chris Sprason from Lincolnshire, UK: I loved Jim and all of what he got up to. He always caught the crook and a happy ending (more often than not).
24 John Reed from Kansas City: I like all the episodes, I just wish we could get them on other channels besides WGN. It doesn't come on until 1 am.
23 Peter South: I do hope you can help me,I'm looking for episodes of the Rockford Files to download.I hope you can help me.
22 peter from australia: I loved the Rockford Files on TV. Jim was always with the ladies but he used get the crooks in the end.
21 Chris Keeton from Orlando FL: Why do people keep saying Jim drove a Pontiac convertible when he's driven a gold Pontiac Firebird since the first episode.
20 MICHAEL RUTHERFORD from LONDON: I THINK THE ROCKFORD FILES WAS THE BEST TV DETICTIVE ON OUR TVS.
HE WAS GREAT AT GETING OUT OF ANY CAR CHASE AND GOOD WITH WORDS I HAVE ALL THE ROCKFORD FILES ON VIDEO AND THE TV MOVIES JAMES GARNER IS GREAT
19 johnmichael from asheville, north carolina: i really enjoy "the rock" since way back when (1974)... it is one of the few tv shows that is for real people and not strictly a middle class commercial.... that angel (stuart margolin) is really a very cool cat... and a pretty good scam artist.. i never get tired of watching ..THE ROCKFORD FILES
18 Alana from New orleans, LA. U.S.A: I love the Rockford Files. Im only eightteen years old and i've just started watching last year. I am a big James Garner fan and I haven't missed a episode. I love everything from the script to the car chases (in which Jim did himself.) My Fav show is Profit and Loss, but I love em' all. The funniest part was when Jim is about to get out the car to go into the printing shop and he opens the door of the car and the buzzer comes on and they think it's a alarm and he is more than ready to start the car and get going.
17 Audrey York from Birmingham u.k.: There is no other detective series that comes even close to the The Rockford files. No other actor could match up to James Garner. His expression alone speaks volumes, which at times bring a smile to the viewers face. I never tire 0f watching all the episodes again. Therefore I do not have a favourite episode as I love them all. This is my tribute to The Rockford files.
16 ANDREW YORK from BIRMINGHAM, UK: The Rockford files was one of the best tv series to ever be created. James Garner was without question, the best actor for the Jim Rockford role with his determination and comic expressions.
The episode "Profit and Loss" is terrific when Jimbo escapes from an office building after tricking the security team and hitting one guard's head against the wall!
The series never faultered through its six year run - great entertainment.
15 Bill Vanaman from Columbiaville, michigan: The only TV detective show that came close to being as good as Rockford was Homicide: Life on the Streets. I loved the episodes with the character Richie Brockleman and also the ones with Issac Hayes. Those episodes got right down to the basic core of the show - Rockford's relationships with people. Great stuff.
14 Randy Kaup from St.Louis,Mo.: I really enjoy "The Rockford Files". Believe it or not my favorite episodes are the ones that Stuart Margolin are in. The funniest moment for me was in an episode where packages of money were being sent to Jim Rockford dads house. Rocky (Jims dad) was off on an Hawaiian vacation. The was a scene were ANGEL was being interrogated and he spelled out R O C K F O R D as he was singing or rattin out on Jim Rockford in order to save his own hide.
13 Bruce D. Mulder from Grand Rapids, MI: The Rockford Files is, without question, the best detective/cop show ever on television. I still enjoy watching it though I have seen each episode numerous times.
12 Al from Northern Ireland: Great show. Great car. Great theme tune. I loved the mobile printing press that he used to make business cards.
The best episodes, in my opinion, were the 2 with Tom Selleck. His character was the complete opposite of Rockford and he had everything going for him. These episodes were played mainly for comedy but the show was able to be serious or funny when it needed to be.
11 roy reed from west sussex: Rockford files is about as good as it gets from American TV cop shows. Good stories a touch of comedy a very enjoyable TV cop show. Its streets ahead of most TV cop shows.
10 Jeff from The US of A: Rockford is on in the States about six times a week these days. It is fun to hear from fans in the UK. The shows are pure 70's, but the writing and character development makes them timeless. The episodes with Richie Brockelman are gems.
9 mitch rosenberg from marlton, nj: i still enjoy the Rockford Files, even almost 30 years after they first aired. The comic relief about serious subjects make they show a timeless viewing habit.
8 paul from cradley heath: The Rockford files is my favourite detective series of all time it is the only series where i can truly say that i have yet to see a bad episde. I watched them as a youngster and still enjoy them as much 25 years later.
7 Susan Leather from Shropshire: Thanks for showing The Rockford Files every day this August - it's the best thing on TV. I'm still waiting for an episode in which Jim actually gets paid for working on a case!
6 Salvador Psaila from Hempstead, Kent: James Garner is so good when he makes those smart, cynical remarks when faced with an egotiscal LA character!
He captures the world between the wealth of California and the less desirable aspects so brilliantly. I am watching every episode again.
5 Alf Kennedy from Petts Wood, Kent: My favourite? Heartaches of a Fool - with that haunting Willie Nelson song running through it. First shown in the UK in 1978, I searched 3 years for that song, then it appears on Willie's Greatest Hits (and some that will be) as a "previously unreleased track" in 1981
4 david hindley from coventry england: My favorite episode is the big cheese particularly the scene where Chapman is trying to get the package from the IRS.
3 dave graham from northern ireland: The best episode ever - either the Tom Selleck as Lance White original episode or the classic where Angel pretends to be a mob hitman.
Please go back to showing them every night of the week soon -once a week of Jimmy and the gang aint enough but it sure beats nothing (as Rocky would say)
2 mark.j.passley from b'ham west midlands: The rockford files are just fun to watch i always watch it on a Sunday morning great action and the script writers deserve 'oscars for their witty dialogue long live Rockford, Rocky, Becker, Angel!
1 David Blake from Hants: It's my favourite because it stars James Garner - and because it's almost as good as "Maverick" (one of those excellent 50's 60's Warner Bros shows that ought to be showing on our screens today).
