34 annette innes from ellesmere port: every time you see these shows they are just as funny as the first time, i am trying to remeber the nickname rigsby had for phillip can anybody help please
33 Robin Francis from London: So many great memorable moments from a classic series! The scene with Rigsby reading Ruth's part in Hillary's play. Absolute magic!
32 Helen from Southport: Have loved this show since I was very young, and recently bought the box set. Fave moment is in 'Charisma', when Alan is dancing with the skeleton and practising his chat-up lines, unaware he is being watched by Rigsby. Brilliant.
31 Carl Bevan from Rotherham: Fab comedy from the 70s decade by far.
30 john from lancashire: my fav episode is when rigsby is hypnotised, simply brilliant.
29 catherine from perth scotland: my favourite episode has to be things that go bump in the night especially the scene with alan behind the curtain saying roses are red violets are blue your tennants are sweet what happened to you the other episode i found the funniest was stage struck with peter bowles
28 Leigh Mathers from Sutton Coldfield: Wonderful series. My hubby & I never tire of watching the DVDs. Miss Jones was my fave - I had a teacher just like her at school. I love the ep where Rigsby responds to a lonelyhearts ad not knowing he is meeting Miss Jones - and ends up wrecking this poor couple's wedding day! "Surgical appliances, surgical appliances!!"
27 eileen from london, uk: rigsby's biggest fan. even my kids are addicts. he's hilarious in this show, have most of the series. such a classic actor, should have been recognised for his contribution to comedy!! can never be replaced.
26 Sue from Liverpool: It always depressed me as a kid because the surroundings were so grey and drab and shabby...and of course there was so much visible rising damp around. Once I was grown of course I saw it in its true brilliant light. I love the bit where Alan gives Rigsby pregnancy tablets to calm down and Rigsby's water turns bright green!
25 Dave from London: Well what can you say about Leonard Rossiter? He makes every episode priceless with his absolutely faultless comic timing. Any budding sitcom writers out there should be made to sit through Rising Damp as an example of what comedy should be. Rising Damp is nothing less than magnificent.
24 harry marway from Goodmayes Ilford: hi the series is funny. A class programme and they dont make comedy like this anymore. Leonard is the king of comedy and may these repeats reflect on some one of the best programmes around.
23 Gemma Sweeney from Beverley: Rising Damp is wonderful, Rigsby's strained relationship with Miss Jones never fails to make me laugh & who couldn't be touched by his love for his cat Vienna?!
22 maureen wheatley from bolton: Simply one of the finest comedy and actors ever brought to television you can watch over & over again.
21 Mike Mitchell from Liverpool: Comedy of this quality never dies, Leonard Rossiter is fab as Rigsby, and Leonard also came originally from Livepool:). No matter how many years my pass, time can not let us forget his comic genius. Excellent.
20 Jane Herd from West London: Can't wait for the DVD box set - looks like it's all the episodes too. About time - Rigsby would be proud!
19 Emma Brooks from middlesbrough: When rigsby thinks he has run over his cat vienna
18 Emma Brooks from Middlesbrough: When rigsby comes of hoilday and he has a sombreo on and alan says is that u rigsby and rigsby says who did you think it was the lone ranger. and where he tells alan all bout his holiday
17 Ron Bee from New York: Great series ! Funny and Fresh even today 20 years later!! Nice site here, too...Good Job!!
16 Colin Richards from Scotland: Classic show, nothing comes close to being anywhere in its class and probably never will be.
15 Mike Mitchell from Liverpool: The old ones are the best.. Leonard Rossiter irreplaceable as Rigsby with great support from Richard Beckinsdale and Co. This is Comedy at its finest..Please lets see some more:)
14 Geoff from Stoke o Trent: Rising Damp,Eric Chappells masterpiece, probably the best sit-com to come out of the 70*s,brilliantly written, cast and acted every episode was a gem,1 of my favourite episodes is where Rigsby thinks he*s run over Vienna, broken hearted he commits what he thinks is the moth eaten old moggy to the old stove in the garage for cremation, only to find its Miss Jones*s old fox fur. What makes it funnier is when Alan leaves the garage he trips over, just as he exits.Brilliant.Please never stop showing Rising Damp!!!
13 Rachel Smith from Norwich: brilliant!
12 paul baker from scunthorpe: I love the bit where they go to the Grange for Miss Jones` birthday, and Rigsby shouts what about a waltz then!!!!!!!!
11 Bryan Mitchell from Derby: Every one was a classic but I shall never forget Rigsby burning some wood that he thought was love wood outside Miss Jones door. It was in fact given to him by Philip who had taken it off his wardrobe. The classic lines "What is that Mr Rigsby? "This? This is a piece of wood" still makes me cry with laughter. I wish we had humour like that on TV today.
10 errol from london: So many unforgettable Rising Damp moments, but a particular favourite is when Rigsby - causing mayhem at a wedding reception in a pub where he is meant to meet a blind date (who turns out to be Miss Jones, of course - is confronted by that legendary battleaxe Joan Sanderson: a meeting of comedy giants indeed!
9 jon gillingham from bournemouth: the funniest moment i think is when rigsby thinks he's seen a ghost in the hall and when alan bumps into him they both run scared
8 Kaye Foether from East Tawas Michigan: Rising Damp is the funniest and most enjoyable thing I have ever watched on television
7 Chris Cavanagh from London: Loads of classic moments spring to mind. The funniest has to be from the episode "Stage Stuck" (series three), co starring Peter Bowles as Hilary.
The funniest part is when he and Rigsby rehearse a scene from Hilary's play. Hilarious!!!
6 pete ryan from birmingham: I used to hate it when I was a
kid as my dad would be laughing his head off. Now I can't get enough of rigsby. Fav moment - when Rigsby thought he had shot spooner. Classic!!!
5 Cassie from USA: I absolutely adore Leonard Rossiter. He's a truly gifted actor.Acute at his craft. Tragically he'd passed on before his time. Whilst watching Rising Damp, one gets the feeling of watching a stage play. It's extraordinary! Mr. Rossiter will always be loved & cherished & we're lucky to have his rich legacy of film & television to watch & remember. Thus in essence keeping the actor's spirit alive. May he rest in peace.
4 fil vandelft from shropshire: Best moment when Phillip tells Rigsby the love wood is off his own wardrobe.
3 Nick from Leeds: Fave moment:when alan tells rigsby that he is holding a jar of "deadly spores" and throws it at him....its really salad cream!!classic!
2 Alison Entwistle from Bangor: If you've ever lived in a rented flat then this IS your landlord.it's nice to see him try so hard yet lose every time
1 Steven Roebuck from Southport: Because its one of the best comedys of all time the dry sarcasm of Rigsby, together with the plots of each programme, with the inevitavble twist in the tale at the end. It gives me hours of pleasure even now and its not dated at all
