70 Andrew Dexter. from Blackwood, Wales, U.K.: I first saw this show some time in 1976, it was a repeat season, the episode I remember is ''The house on haunted hill, I can still remember the laughing and Tony Stark saying, ''Ghosts, real ghosts!'' Can anyone remember the dates these repeats went out? They were also repeated on I.T.V between 1986 and 1987. I loved seeing 60's London. I now have the complete set on DVD.
69 Mark from Hendon: I'm a London Firefighter currently serving at Hendon Fire Station.
Does anyone know which episode features the Pump,Pump Escape and TL turning out on a "shout"
Cheers
68 Kimberley Brown from Buxton, Derbyshire.: My favourite Episode of Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased) is The House on Haunted Hill. I think it's well put together and of course it's got The Edgwarebury Hotel in it. I Like all the episodes but "That's How Murder Snowballs" is one that I find quite comical When Jeff says to Marty, "Well How much are we getting", to which Marty replies, "How should I know, I,m not a Mindreader".
67 Robert Collister from Stockport: sorry ignore last comment "high cannons" was used in a different episode, sorry.
66 robert collister from stockport: In reply to Vince and his question (55) "high Cannons" was used as a country house but not sure what episode (im at work as i answer this). It is located just to the n.e of Borehamwood to the right of Silver hill. hope this helps.
65 Vince Cox from Tunbridge Wells: Hi Gerard from Hampstead. Re. comment 61, the house you refer to was indeed in 'But What a Sweet Little Room'. It was Madame Hanska's place and we found it many years ago. The house I'm referring to was Arthur De-Crecy's country home, where he took Anne Fenwick and gassed her to death before burying her in the back garden. But a big thank you for taking the time to answer. Again, if anyone knows where that house is, I'll be your slave for life. xx
64 Pauline Farnworth from Bolton: I remember my little brother used to love the show when it was repeated for the first time on Granada between November 1974 and May 1975 using the graveside opening titles, but unless my memory is playing tricks, I'm certain the current titles they claim are the original, aren't! During the titles, I remember Marty turning to Jeff and saying "Look at her Jeff, how she loved me" which is ommitted from the re-claimed graveside titles, I'm sure i'm right.
63 rob from walsall: My fave episode of the original seried was 'Whoever heard of a Ghost Dying?'. It featured the catfight between Alexandra Bastedo and Annette Andre!! Jeannie won of course!!
62 Dave Gogarty from High Peak: My favourite Cult series of all-time. I first remember the re-runs in my Granada region during the summer of 1975. I was instantly a fan. At that time they showed the alternative credits (my favourite) where Marty says to Jeff at the grave: "Jeff. It's all right Jeannie can't see or hear me. Nobody can. Only you Jeff, only you." Hello to Vince and Aitch. You're both known to me.
61 Gerard from Hampstead, London: This is for Vince, question 55. I believe the house you seek is The Tower, 55 Fitzjohns Avenue, Hampstead, London, NW36PH. I used to live in that beautiful building. Kind regards. Gerard
60 murray tucker from dorset: i loved all the progs i just wish i could meet annette andre, she is an angel. rgds murray
59 John Gillan from Edinburgh: My favourite programme finished far to early, there was no real closure to it, for example if Jeany got together with Jeff, then would have made some sense of it, similar fealings to another great sixties show - The prisoner
58 Kenneth Russell from cardiff: this show was so well made from the lighting to the nice photography and the amazing theme tune, such gems have sadly been not made any more, having recently been enjoying this classic series and the music used is so well edited to the sections, would love to contact kenneth cope to give my best wishes for a great acting time, and sadly the late mike pratt, who made the show a winner,I still love the annette andre, who gave the show such an appeal and to all the actors and crew this show will always be one of favourites.
Kind Regards.
Ken Everitt.l
57 Linda edwins from dunstable: My favourite programme of all time,i was only ten when it was made and i remember i watched it in black and white, loved Mike Pratt and still do,didn`t want to watch the remake,a disturbing case was one of my favourites and for the girl who has everything, wonderful viewing!.
56 Ian Jones from Liverpool: A wonderful show.My late Dad and me used to watch it when I was a child.
Does anybody know anything about the music that was used during each programme?or does anybody know if any sheet music exists?
55 Vince from Tunbridge Wells: Good to see this site still being visited by true R&H fans. As I said in an earlier message, I have visited and photographed practically every surviving location but one still eludes me. If anyone knows where the house seen in 'But What A Sweet Little Room' is, I'd love to know. It was Arthur De Crecy's hideaway in the country. We've been searching for it for twenty odd years without success. It has to be out there somewhere. Someone please end my torment.
54 Dale from New Zealand: Although I am nearly 60, I missed this show when it first aired but thanks to recently bought DVDs, I am now enjoying it for the first time. I love it and I look forward to seeing all the episodes. A unique show.
53 Jane Furnival from Golborne: I, always remember running in,from playing in the street. When i heard the theme music playing from next doors open window. So it must of been in the hot summer of1976, i would be about nine yrs old. My 18yr old also loves it!x
52 Jon Kutner from Herts: You mention in the quiz about Mike being a member of the Cavemen, he wasn't - they were called the Steelemen. The first UK hit was called Rock With The Cavemen. Maybe that's where the confusion arose!
51 Vince from Tunbridge Wells: When I first saw this classic programme it was 1969, its first showing, and I was immediately hooked. It was quite literally the only t.v. show that would keep me, a nine year old, totally engrossed from start to finish. Many years later I was fortunate enough to be put in touch with the R&H(D) appreciation society. Consequently I have had the pleasure of being able to visit practically all of the remaining locations, have interviewed Kenneth Cope and spent time with Annette Andre. I just regret never having met Mike Pratt, but I do at least have a phot signed by him which I acquired. The remake was a total insult to the original and should have never been released.
50 andy from ayrshire: like a lot of other people enjoying the re-runs on itv4 it was my favourite programme when i was younger never tire of watching the series.
49 Peter Biggs from Lancashire: Well advanced for its time. Love the programme when I was a child, and now as a 53yr old. Always watch the repeats, a classic.
48 john a jones from rhyl, n.wales: watching the complete series now brings back memories of what i was doing when i first watched them.. i was so engrossed in it.. loved it then.. love it now.
47 Karen occardi from Coylton ayrshire: i loved this program i used to watch it wnen i was young kennith was my fav and still is
46 Frank Metcalf from Lancashire: I love this programme now and as a child. Great actors, so sad Mike Pratt died so young
45 Graham Catlow from Colne Lancashire: really good programme
44 John from Loanhead: like Jackie from West Sussex i've been watching all the re-runs on ITV4, it's been brilliant, I've missed so many appointments. Like Jackie I also did the quiz but I got only seven right, which just goes to show you don't have to be bright to enjoy this show
43 mr saeed raja from romford essex: I just love this series' although i was just born at the time' i just love watching it' thank god for recording digiboxes...
42 jackie from west sussex live in spain: i think the series is really great i am watching reruns on itv 4 i have not missed one and i just scored 10 out of 10 in the quiz
41 Dorothy Constant from West Sussex: it was a great programme to watch, i hope to be able to get the whole 26 episodes in the near future so i will be able to watch them over & over again especially if i am feeling a bit down i know they will cheer me up no end
40 Dave from Walsall: I love the original Randall & Hopkirk from the 1960s, Mike Pratt sadly died in 1976 from cancer, Kenneth Cope is still going & can still be seen on the tv. Top program.
39 Mark Anthony Adams from Harrow. Middlesex: My favourite programme as a child, still a classic now and forever - and what an opening sequence, the perfect balance of music and visuals.
AND it was filmed in my home town! (Wish I'd known that at the time!)
38 Maria from Ireland: I think that the original Randall and Hopkirk(deceased) is the best of the sixties tv series and I think that it has stood the test of time. I love it and I continue to watch it ten years after I first sat it on BBC!
37 Harry from St Andrews: I am told by a reliable source, that there was a 25minute sequence filmed- possibly for an episode that never made finals (thats near on half a whole episode), and yet no trace of it has ever seen the light of day...?
Can anyone possibly shed light on what was done with unused footage from I.T.C productions, most of which was binned- though some is believed recovered (is this footage amongst it?) and what has happened to it in the intervening 30years?
The whereabouts of any R&H footage, I have yet to track down, though a source did inform me that some 'odds and sorts' were rumored to have been sold at auction some fifteen years ago...? And if any was salvaged from cuttings, into what archives would it have gone into...? Indeed, footage passing into a private collection can not be ruled out, as Editors and the like, can get rather attached to their work, but I would welcome information on the whereabouts of any such 'missing' footage.
N.B., If any footage was to be found outwith I.T.C's archive, can anyone advise as to where is the most likely place it might be found?
Regards, Harry.
36 Joe from Nevada USA: This show played when I was a kid in the 70's, Only it was called "My Partner The Ghost" over here. It was my favorite show on hot summer nights when I was allowed to stay up late during summer vacation.
35 dave from cheltenham: Is there any truth in the rumor of a 'missing' episode... that is, I had heard that one episode was completed yet never aired?? perhaps this may have been a retitled episode for overseas audience..??? any replys most welcome. d.
34 Julie O'Brien from Hillingdon Middlesex: I think it was such a good programme because of the actors, they seemed very right for the parts. I am now 47, and it still makes me smile when I watch it:)
33 Garry Herring from HARTLEPOOL, North-East: classic series, never tire of watching it. The loss of Mike Pratt is still a huge blow to the acting profession. He was great. One of the funniest episodes was "House On Haunted Hill" with the late, great Dermot Kelly. the opening scene with the expressions on his face and him running out of the house are still hilarious!!
32 karen from freckleton: I really love randall & hopkirk it reminds me of when I was little, I never missed an episode. I think annette andre is beautiful and I have been to all the video shops trying to buy the series on tape or dvd but it is out of print. The series reminds me of happy days when I was young.
31 jacqui c-w from bournemouth: The original and the best! The first set of dvds I bought and still the most watched. I always went around humming the theme tune as a child. I have got my 15 year old hooked.
30 harry marwa from goodmayes,Ilford: indeed a brilliant show but a pity the actor who played jeff randell died a year after the series was made. i have watched all the episodes on granadaplus and was very entertaining and well scripted for a 60's series. hope it can come tv once more.bye for now.
29 Nick Lea from Liverpool: I remember watching it first time round as a child. It always reminds me of the days of long hot summers. I am lucky enough to have all the original series on tape. Hope its shown soon on tv.
28 Harry Fielder from Herts UK: I was Mike Pratt's stand/in, double for the twenty six episodes, (12 months work) It was one of the best years of my life, 1968/9, I tell all about it on my web. Aitch
27 Geffers from Bletchley: I've been watching the DVD set, but I've held off from seeing the last DVD, because once they've gone...
I was born in Hendon, not far from the fire station shown in one of the episodes. There's a little boy in the distance, in that shot, I wonder if it's me! Probably not, but my school was just around the corner - if anyone wants to visit, it's the Burroughs, Hendon, climb the hill from the tube station, and turn right.
I also recognise Borehamwood in some of the locations, although that's altered quite a bit since the 1960's. I worked there in the late 1970's.
26 from: i wasnt born when the 60 episodes started but have watched them and think they are wicked. Kenneth cope is brill as marty. Everything that he says is cool. When he is the ghost and tells jeanie 2 be good. And when he rises from his grave that is scary
25 Jean Duxbury from Cheshire: Randall and Hopkirk has always been one of my very favorite programmes. Got hooked on it back in the late sixties. So pleased it's back on, on Sky. I think Mike Pratt and Kenneth Cope were brilliant, so sad when he died. Mike was one of my favourite actors.
24 Dean from Great Yarmouth: Randall and Hopkirk (deceased) was my absolute favourite programe when i was younger, now in my 40's, i never thought i would ever get to see the original randall and hopkirk (deceased) again, i know they tried to do a remake recently, but it had nothing to keep me watching.
23 Ray Van-Eke from Biggleswade: Whenever I see the '60's version of Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased) it always takes me back to my childhood days. I was, actually, lucky enough to see some of the location scenes being filmed.
I would have been about ten years old at the time and the family were living in Harrow, Middx. where we had some very happy times.
One afternoon, a neighbour told us that there was some filming going on in Springfield Road.
When we went round to see what was happening we found a film unit shooting scenes at the back of Adams Furnishing Stores. Little did we know at the time but these scenes would be shown on a regular basis, in the series, as this was the building where Randall and Hopkirk's offices where supposed to be located.
I am, now, in my 40's and since then Central Harrow has changed almost beyond recognition. Sadly, the furnishing store was demolished a while back and is, now, an entertainment complex.
However, thanks to Randall and Hopkirk, fond memories of the people and places in the locale always come back to me whenever I see those old location shots.
22 william hawkins from chesterfield: Mike Pratt and Kenneth Cope were a brilliant team. Mike Pratt had a hand in writing the first episode. One of Kenneth Cope's previous characters ,was in Coronation Street - he was funny in that as well.
21 harry marway from Goodmayes Ilford: hi thanks for bringing the series back in july04. looking forward to watching each and every episode. enjoy...
20 harry marway from goodmayes ilford: The series is awesome and exciting and looking forward to watching it.
19 tim bates from warrington: I think that randall and hopkirk is one of the best t.v shows ever made. lets hope the series gets repeated for ever. I LOVE IT OLD AND NEW!!!
18 Peter from Bedford: Could you please help me?! I need to know the title of the song that was played in R&H's car (that they sang along to) in the first episode and in every episode thereafter?
It's really bugging me and it's causing arguments at work!! Please, please e-mail asap!! thanks, Pete.
17 julie newman from dagenham: Randall and Hopkirk brings the old childhood memories flooding back. It is sad that the person who played Jeff Randall was not here to see how the show has touched a generation and given them much joy. Thanks for all the happy memories.
16 Harry Marway from Goodmayes Ilford: Hi - I think the programme is awesome. Just to think of all the special effects used to get Marty around in the series. It really shows Marty's jealous side when Jeff is with Jeanie. Brilliant...
15 michael thomas from new york usa: I remember watching this show when it was shown as "my partner the ghost" in the USA and I remember it used to come on Sunday night at about 11:30, right after the news. My favorite was when Jeff said to Marty "why can't you stay dead like anyone else".
14 Gerald Lehtola from Burbank, CA: Who is the producing company and how do I get a hold of them. I would like to get copies of the series.
13 ian from milton keynes: Does anybody remember the episode in which Anton Rodgers played a drunken man but could actually see Marty?
12 colin paul from sale, manchester: thankyou for re-showing this fabulous series, its timeless and takes me back to my childhood. my favourite episode is the house on haunted hill.
11 Ian from lincoln: please can you tell me when we can see randall & hopkirk
from the very 1st episode
to the last episode
ian
10 Jill from Birmingham: I watched Randell and Hopkirk when it was first shown, I was 9 years old and loved it I am 43 now and still love it I have the compleat series on DVD. The best moment was in What a sweet little room when marty tells Madam Hansker to GET SHOT OF THEM,refering to the people in the room Great!!
9 Mary Phillips from Romford Essex: I remember Randall and Hopkirk from when I was younger. I love watching the repeats as its a great programme but also you can see from the clips old London in the sixties which brings back fond memories. Can anyone tell me how many episodes there were made.
8 tamara from sussex: I can only remember a bit about Randall and Hopkirk (I was only 4/5 when I first saw it) but it has still remained my favourite TV show Marti has always been my fav. The best memory I have is of Marti sitting cross-legged on the cieling and I have always dreamed of being able to see Marti just like Jeff
7 Eddie Morris from Bury: Alistair, Mike Pratt died of cancer.
Kenneth Cope is still going strong, he was last seen in Brookside.
6 david bapty from leeds: i just love the programe, the acting is natural, the guest actors, the scenes with buses and the corney jokes
5 Alastair Jinks from Cardiff: Where are the cast members now
4 Mrs Tracey Jane Donnelly from Glasgow: I'm enjoying this. A wonderful programme. I've not seen it since it was first shown..when I was a child! I'ts great to have the chane to see it again. Brilliant.
3 Paul Bessant from Havant Hants: The original Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased)has always been one of my favourite tv programmes and it's such a shame only 26 episodes were made. All are absolute classics. My personal fav moment is in 'Never trust a ghost' when Jeff has to ask Jeannie to get to his flat ASAP (to act as alibi) in the middle of the night. "But I'm not even dressed" she says.... "That's just how I want you!!" Brilliant.Incidently there's a 2 year old interview with her at the sixtiespop.com site and a recent pic.(And she's still gorgeous!)
2 melanie walker from tipton west midlands: I liked the very first episode
it was a great series and the
remakes could not compete they
just would not be the same. I can
imagine the same situations happening in real life and wouldn't it be funny looking on ?
1 Lynsey from Essex: The remake doesn't even come close to emulating the brilliant partnership of the original 'Randall and Hopkirk (deceased)'It's one of the best buddy shows ever, and poor Jeff, was there ever an episode where he didn't get beaten up?! Favourite moment is in the last episode - The Smile Behind The Veil - where Jeff is stuck down a well and a hiker throws down some money and wishes "I wish i was a millionaire" and jeff shouts back "I wish i was out of this perishing well..." Classic
