Meet The Wife Classic TV Show |
Freddie Blacklock is a plumber living and working in the north of England - a a down-to-earth chap who likes to take things easy.
Freddie's wife Thora has ambitions for the couple to 'get on' and improve their station in life. She has a snobbish streak, often 'putting on a posh voice' in a vain attempt to impress whoever she happens to be speaking to at the time.Meet The Wife Fan Tributes2 Jonathan Coombe from Worcestershire, England: Although I was only 8 years old when this first aired, I can still recall a couple of recurrent themes. One was how Thora turned on the waterworks at the drop of a hat when she wasn't getting her own way. The other was when Thora was affecting a 'posh' voice to impress somebody, and would say something like "Oh we ALWAYS take afternoon tea at 4 o'clock, don't we Fred ?" to which Fred would reply, in what HE fancied was a posh accent, "Yay-ees". 1 Henk from Holland: After all these years I can still hear Thora saying "No nighty Josie?" That was the episode when Fred's brother brought home a girlfriend, they were allowed to use the spareroom! But the girl had no nightdress ...... |
