9 Alex Dow from Kingdom of Fife: To follow up from my previous posting, Margaret returned to Nursing in October 2007 at age 68, as she felt that she should maintain her skills and apply her lengthy experience to the benefit of others.

7 Alex Dow: My lady-wife, Margaret, being a District Nursing Sister, watched the series, "District Nurse" with interest.
As a result of the start of the TV series, the "Daily Record" (Scottish daily tabloid) wanted to publish a feature on the work of 1980's District Nurses in Scotland; and it was given Margaret's name etc, to interview etc.
The London Editor came up to compile the report and later a photographer came through from Glasgow, both going with her to patients who had agreed to be involved.
The piece was published in the edition for Thursday, January 26 1984.
The TV series, District Nurse, is used as a means of introducing the feature, mentioning Nerys Hughes, South Wales, Twenties, mining etc, leading to-
"But there ends the comparison with the TV series, starring Nerys Hughes".
Ironically, Margaret is from South Wales, her father was a miner down there etc.
Within a year or two, Margaret had made a TV broadcast, also on the work of District Nurses for the STV afternoon series "Bodyline".
Margaret retires in this first week of August 2004, after almost 31 years "on the district" as an H-Grade Sister, Practical Work Teacher, Counsellor, Nurse Prescriber etc; and having received two awards from the "Queen's Nursing Institute Scotland"
