63 Mari from Finland: I have all 1970's Columbo episodes on DVD and I can watch them million times-they are so good! My favourite episodes are those with Johnny Cash, Anne Bancroft and Janet Leigh and also that episode with dogs called Laurel and Hardy and very young Kim Catrall long before Sex And The City(she has a teddy bear called Sigmund..)They don't make series like this anymore and Columbo was probably the most brilliant detective ever lived.May Peter Falk rest in peace after all the great work he's been done in this role.
62 John Peterson from London: I am really trying hard to remember the film in which Lieutenant Columbo takes his TV into a TV Repair Shop I think for his dog to watch, if anyone remembers I would be glad to know.
61 Earth Angel from Essex: Peter Falk as Columbo, Peter Was a Legend ..you never get this again...Peter Falk was a one off Absolutley Brilliant ACTOR...........
XOX
Peter HOlds the hearts of his fans and these tributes sites relfect thatxx
60 amanda hayden from LIVERPOOL: I own every columbo dvd that has ever been made. The has never been a night that I have never watched him. Even my wedding night didnt stop me My poor suffering husband!! I do believe that I am one of his biggest fans. I have to keep renewing my collection because my disks do wear out!!
59 barry from cleveland usa: columbo was the best. ty peter falk. any old port in a storm, double exposure, the greenhouse jungle were 3 wonderful episodes, but not, by any means, the only good ones. ty again!
58 Grace O'Malley from Dublin Ireland: Always loved the show, especially the earlier ones, I love it when the murderer thinks they have it all sown up and that they think columbo is thick and then he just pounces - its genius - favourites are sky high IQ and How to dial a murder with the dogs laurel and hardy fav baddie is Robert Culp and also the episode with roddy mc dowell total sunday afternoon tv.
57 Paul from Birmingham: I love Columbo. In fact I have named my Basett Hound Columbo. What a character Columbo was. That's why I named my dog with the same name. I love my dog, and Columbo. What happened to his dog. Was he well cared for? This dog never got the credit he deserved. Sitting in that car, whilst Columbo went about his business. They did not even name him. Can you tell me what his name was? If this had happened in England I think the RSPCA would have been involved. What a lovely dog. I like Bassets. My dog is a Basset. Columbo used to solve all the cases he was involved in. I take my hat off to him. But I tell ya. I don't doubt for one minute that he was inspired by his dog. That programme should have been named after is dog. But of course, his dog had no name. Shame!!!!
56 Bailey from Michigan: My all time favorite Columbo is the episode with Jackie Cooper - he plays a shaddy politician who murders his campaign manager - Love all of them but, this is my favorite !!
55 Mark Tate from Stalybridge: Columbo arrived at a crime scene and then fell down a hill, only Columbo would do this amazing.
54 alex from milton keynes: The 70's Columbo is far superior to the later stuff and i have every single one to enjoy the best episode for me is either death lends a hand with Robert Culp or now you see him with Jack Cassidy they both appeared in 3 each and you can see why they were asked back.
53 Stan Watson from Newcastle upon Tyne England: I have always been a great Columbo fan and have seen all episodes from 1971 - 1998. Peter Falk was always compulsive viewing, even in repeats....you somehow never got sick of watching them. This is a tribute to the script writers and all the major actors within each episode. There are many classic moments and episodes, but I think my favourire moment is when Donald Pleasance cannot bear to part with a vintage bottle of wine that has been ruined....and Columbo knows it too!! The 70's series was different class. Brilliant!!
52 Jacqueline Cotter from Manchester: I am absolutely crazy about Columbo.
I love watching a show any day of the week, it's a real treat. Peter Falk created a truly fantastic character with Levinson and Link's writing.
51 ali from lincolnshire: My favourite moment is when he gets his tv repaired just for the dog to watch.
50 Sally Franklin from Salisbury: Favourite Columbo moment:
For me, it's impossible to beat the moment when Columbo almost loses his temper. In 'a stitch in crime' he turns on Leonard Nimoy's Doctor Mayfield, slams the desk and tells him how he KNOWS he is the killer.
49 Dave from London: This show really is legendary, mainly due to the magnificent Peter Falk and the wonderful plots of the 1970s episodes. Add to that some oustanding villains (Robert Culp, Leonard Nimoy, Jack Cassidy) and you have something I could literally watch all day. Genius.
48 Grover from Liverpool: Columbo is absolutely superb. I love the humble, bumbling manner and the way he praises the criminals ("my wife, Mrs Columbo, loves you. She never misses your show"). It's all the little things. The best bit I remember is when his wife gets him a new coat and he hates it.
47 mia from michigan: I love when Columbo goes undercover and gets kicked in the head!
46 sandra and susan from durham: it was mint in MURDER SMOKE AND SHADOWS when columbo turned into a ring master for a second and performed a bow and then turned back into columbo.
45 Assad ilyas from brton-on-tent DE14 3LD STAFFS: columbo is a very good show and i watch it all the time. i like how he talks about his wife and how she helps columbo solves cases for him. GO ON COLUMBO AND UR WIFE.
44 Assad Adam from Burton-on-trent: columbo was a great figure and people mocked and at the end he got them. I am 12 years old but this show is great. Keep going columbo, especially the episode where ummaria starred in which was funny at the same time. great going dudes.
43 MIKE GOODSHIP from ALDERSHOT: THOROUGHLY ENJOYED ALL OF THE EPISODES SHOWN BUT I AM LEFT GUESSING AS TO WHAT HAPPEN AT THE END OF THE 15.30 EPISODE ON SUNDAY AS IT WAS NOT SHOWN....CAN ANYONE SHED SOME LIGHT.
42 Terry from Peterborough: What happened to the end of Episode: Suitable For Framing, Sun 18th Apr 15:30 - columbo drives off after refusing to search the ex wifes house on the request of the killer.......is that the inteneded ending to that episode??
41 Jane Parkinson from Sale Cheshire: I love the scene when Columbo is on the trail of someone who murdered a person on the set of a serial on tv. He keeps bobbing up and down at the back of the set, much to the annoyance of the actors. He does not seem to care what they say. He really is the best. Please lets have lots more Columbo.
40 haseeb Ahmad from derby: Columbo was a great character that did not depend on stage props, but portrayed the average man. I enjoyed the elusive character Mrs Columbo, which only deepened Columbo's personal life. A truly great drama of the 20th century. Thanks Peter Falk!
39 Lucy from Belfast: I think I might be the youngest Columbo fan! I'm only 16! I love Columbo, and Peter Falk very much!!
38 Waseem Asghar from Ilford, Essex: The great thing about Columbo is that unlike other crime shows, you get to see the murderer from the beginning. The enjoyment of the show is watching Columbo unravel the mystery using very unorthodox techniques and pretending to be very confused and unorganised. He reminds me of a pit bull terrier with lockjaw who just wont let go. Being 27 years of age, people find it very weird that I enjoy watching his shows.
37 Emmy from Los Angeles: There has been and never will be any show on television as consistantly brilliant as Columbo!
36 Jaimie Johnson from El Paso, TX: I love Columbo and watch it whenever it comes on. I love the way he tells all the killers that they will be the first to know if anything interesting develops in the case. I love the tune, This Old Man. I just love Columbo. Everything is my favorite.
35 Greg Tanner from Northampton: The runaway success of Columbo
amongst the 'blue collar' workers of America (and the UK I suspect) was due to the strong class aspect of the show. The good Lieutenant was the epitomy of a working class joe (and obviously from an immigrant background) and was pitted, week after week, against a cruel, arrogant, murderous suspect from America's white high society. Always getting his man (or woman)! And I love it.
34 Montmerencie Billinge from London On Sea: Wot no more Columbo in the schedules....or precious few. It didn't oughta be allowed.
33 Lord Roseby Of Lanarkshire from Scotland: I say what a trooper this columbus is, He's bright as a spark, what. I love his raincoat and all that, spiffing or what. I never miss it even when I'm out with the old bag.
Oh well tally ho.
32 gordon from killie: columbo kicks ass
31 Craig from Scotland: The funniest Columbo sequence was near the begining of 'The Greenhouse Jungle' when Columbo falls down the steep hill in order to get to the crime scene. Falk did the stunt himself and was beautifully done. A classic moment, brilliant and funny!
30 Y. LEWIS from N. IRELAND: since the first episode iv'e been hooked. repeats and all.
i could sit all day and watch columbo.... in fact I have.
29 brian from london: I think Columbo is one of the best detective shows to grace TV.
Yes you see the murder but I just love watching Lt.Columbo chip away at the suspects until he reveals the full story.
I wish i could get the series on Video/DVD, I watch every episode I can, a few months ago it was a case of one murder on one channel, switch to another on a further channel finishing with a third on another.
28 dips from coventry: columbo is my hero. forget einstein, columbo truly is the cleverest guy ever!
27 Rick from Manchester: "My Wife tinks your terrific"
26 Nigel Platten from Hull England: I never miss columbo, and cannot understand why people here underestimate this anoraked genius. I would like to get some episodes on d.v.d. for when I get withdrawal symptoms. I love it when these snobby toss pots fall for the raincoat.
They haven't noticed the super intelligence of this man. Peter Falk, if your visiting England anytime, please drop in.
25 WeeMan from Scotland,UK.: Hi! My dad told me about Columbo in 2002, and have been watching it ever since! Please keep showing them, thats what I live for! Thanx!
Oh! Just one more thing! Columbo Rules!
24 Ewan from -: If ever a quote should be carved in stone, it has to be "Three eyes are better than two." You've just got to love it.
23 michelle from London: Always been a big fan of Columbo. I like the later stuff but prefer the 70's episodes mainly for the nostalgia. I love trying to work out the exact moment when Columbo realises that the person who pretending to 'grieve' for the victim is actually the murderer.
Also, any episode where Columbo is pitted against someone who is so arrogant that they can't resist letting Columbo know of their guilt thinking they'll still get away with the murder, is particularly enjoyable. They always make the huge error of under-estimating Columbo's abilities. Don't be fooled by the shambolic appearance!
Episodes starring Roddy McDowell, Patrick McGoohan, Leonard Nimoy and let's not forget the unique talent that is William Shatner, are among my favourites but there are so many to choose from.
Long live Columbo!
22 Steve from UK: Some Columbo trivia: that lovely yellow-orange typeface they used on the original 70s episodes has been unavailable for years - but I've recreated as a PC font. If you want to see a sample, contact me: steviebaby62@hotmail.com
21 Angus from Aberdeen: Columbo is great! Just started watching it and have been trying not to miss any of the episodes. I notice that there are fewer columbo episodes being shown in Feburary until a massive "Columbo Day" on March the 1st. I hope that lots of Columbo will be shown for a long time to come. Columbo has a huge student following too, keep the show going!!
20 Arnie from: Quite brilliant ! Would dearly like to see Mrs Columbo!! His 'excuse'... "oh its just for the report.." ensures he seals their fate with this unasumming presence.
19 Emma from Southampton: Your re-runs of Columbo have helped me ease out of a very grim episode of depression. To hell with Prozac. Give me Columbo any day. Favorite moment (well, one of) is when Columbo introduces himself as Lieutenant Columbo, "but you can call me Lieutenant".
18 Ged from Middlesbrough: Columbo is fantastic - please keep showing them. I don't think I could survive without it.
Columbo is the best
17 nigel phelan from bedford: Your Columbo fans may like to know that all 45 original episodes of the series are out on DVD in Japan.
16 Liz Clifford from Leighton Buzzard: Columbo is a terrific series.
There are so many memorable scenes it's difficult to pick out a favourite but one of mine is in 'The Greenhouse Jungle'. Columbo goes to the scene of a car accident, meets up with an enthusiastic sergeant who offers to show him the "quickest way down" a very steep bank - and Columbo promptly races out of control down the bank, ending up in a heap at the bottom! It was so funny. The look on Columbo's face was priceless. Peter Falk is wonderful, nobody else could ever play this part.
15 Steve from Suffolk: Columbo...rolls back the years for me everytime. Love it to death. particularly like the shows with our old mate shatner in...2 different shows I think. Is that a record I wonder. Wish I could get all columbo on DVD.
14 MARK RAYNER from TOTLAND, ISLE OF WIGHT: It was great to see "A Trace of Murder" As I'd missed it before: I'd love to see "Dagger of The Mind" which I can only remember from one ITV showing:were any episodes shown here in the cinemas: if not why have so many been missed out? Still great to watch, my favourite movie is when Columbo cries Wolf; but I think "Any Old Port in a Storm" is a must see.
13 RS from My bedroom: It's tough to choose a favourite columbo epissode. But I've always enjoyed the one with that wine guy, Mr. Carsini, I believe his name is. I enjoy a nice glass of wine as well. But seeing him obsess about every little detail (how to drink it, what temperature to keep the wine in, etc) is really funny.
12 cheryl from United Kingdom: Dear Sir,Madam,
I grew up in Canada in the 60's and I could not get enough of Columbo. He reminds me of my late father so courteous and patient. And I love the action in the beginning and then I like to fathom out the clues. I hope he goes on and on.
11 Phil Armour from Ash: If I am right that "A Stitch in Time" is the episode with Leonard Nimoy (a.k.a Spock, of course), I think this is one of my favourite episodes. In particular it is the only episode I know where Columbo actually seems to get angry with his target, slamming down a beaker on a table. A classic.
10 EDDIE from London: The best of the best. He annoys the hell out of me and is really annoying and yet satisfying. What a pain! I love the episode "Rest in peace Mrs Columbo" as it keeps you guessing as to whether "my wife" really bought it. (What is her first name?) Just introduced youngest son to the ultimate detective, and he can't get enough. Got to go now. Sir, sir, just one more thing......will I ever retire?
Hopefully not.Long live the best.
9 Tony Culhane from Essex: I love all the Columbo episodes, but like some of the earlier comments I think the ones from the 70's are best.
8 Paul Avery from Surrey: Columbo is amazing. My friends think i'm mad for having to stay in on Mon and Tue nights, but hey.... somethings are more important.
7 Benjamin Sachs from Scotland: Suitable for framing.....magic...sheer genius. "I'm not looking for your handprints, I'm looking for mine|"
6 Kevin Robinson from Harrogate: Any Old Port in a Storm is my favourite Columbo. You remember the one with Donald Pleasance as a wine Conosoir, Columbo catches him out when he uses DP own wine which had gone off in extreme heat! I really enjoy Columbo, I believe there must be so many we have not seen in the UK, especially all the ones made in the 90s and those made this year.
5 Martin Silva from London: I'm an absolute Columbo fanatic and enjoy reading other fan's comments. I particularly enjoy the episodes with Patrick McGoohan but probably my all time favourite is Sex And The Married Detective. Columbo's embarrassment while questioning the lovely sex therapist is hilarious.
4 Jonathan Baxter from Stamford: I disagree with David Brown from London. The late 80s and 90s episodes (and beyond!) are just as good as the 1970s. One of my (many) favourites is 'Double Shock" from 1973, with Martin Landau playing twin brothers. The way this episode plays is that the viewer is actually unsure which brother did the murder as they blame each other - in fact they were both in it together. Or what about Bill Shatner in "Butterfly in Shades of Grey" from 1994 with his amazing changing moustache!
3 David Brown from London: The Columbo episodes from the 1970s are far superior to the revival in the late 1980s. I especially like the episode 'Fade in to Murder' with William Shatner and any of the ones where our hero sparred with Jack Cassidy.
Everything about the show, from the plots, to the humour, to the interplay between Columbo and his adversary was just spot-on.
2 Richard Lynch from Peterborough: My recollections of Columbo are the episode with singer Johnny Cash, it was superb. Peter Falk at his best.
1 Stephen Moss from Widnes, Cheshire: I have always liked watching Columbo. Peter Falk is a great actor and the way his performance as Columbo is always excellent.
I particularly enjoy the earlier 1970's Columbo episodes, notbaly the episode with Leonard Nimoy 'A Stitch in Crime' but all of these 70's episodes were great for their selection of great co-stars.
