The Monkees Classic TV Show

The series won the 1966 Emmy for Outstanding Comedy and the group became world wide chart toppers with songs such as Last Train To Clarkville, Daydream Believer and I'm a Believer (the latter composed by the still unknown Neil Diamond).

The Monkees Fan Tributes

4 judith patterson from new zealand: i would have to say that i liked the music better than the programme, myfavouites being, valerie, cudlly toy, etc.my favourite monkey would be Davey jones, because hes english.
3 Bonnie Speidel from Inland Empire area: I noticed the Monkees in a Tiger Beat magazine, and from then on I NEVER wanted to miss the television show when it was on.
2 David Stanley from Farmington, New Mexico, USA: The Monkees, a made for TV band modeled after the Beatles, are almost mesmorizing for me to watch, from the catchy opening theme music, to the era's camera angles and production techniques.

I had a couple of Monkees 45 rpm records cut from the back of a cereal box. The sound quality was awful, but would probably be worth something on e-bay today if I could find them (they are long gone into oblivion).

The Monkees even made a movie "Feed Your Head" that is fascinating to watch. Even though most of their music was written and recorded by studio musicians, they are still an exciting and fun glimpse into the mid to late 60s.

1 Wayne from England: I wasn't around back in the 60's but I've seen them live in concert three times in the UK. In 1997 Mike rejoined the band alongside Davy, Peter and Micky for a UK tour and this was one of the best concert's I've seen to date. The Monkees may have been a made for tv band but that night and other times though the years they have shown that they were also a real group.
