Steptoe and Son Fan Tributes

7 Karl Franklin from England: Steptoe & son is the best sitcom ever made.Every episode is a classic,Great writing, great actors!
My Favorite tv show of all time!

6 Barry Burrell from Boston, UK: Absolute brilliance a true inspiration
5 from: men of letters was really great
4 Harvey S.Hudson from Llandudno: Comedy at it's best. They simply don't make comedy programmes as good as this anymore.
3 scott webb from essex ,england: "You dirty old man"
2 Dave Smith from Oldham: A timeless classic to be watched over and over again, never to be missed. A prime example of how good the beeb used to be.
1 Roger C Bull from Cornwall: Steptoe and Son was without doubt a true classic sitcom that is as funny today as it was all those years ago when it was first broadcast. There are absolutely hundreds of memorable moments that it is difficult to choose a favourite. However some of my all time favourites were :-
Albert accidentally stabbing Harolds waterbed with a pair of scissors.
Albert confined to bed with a bad back and when it suddenly gets better he decides not to tell the worn out Harold.
The episode where Harold decides to divide the house into two and they each end up with half the TV screen.
And who can forget the wonderful episode where the two escaped convicts break in.Leonard Rossiter who played one of the convicts asks Harold for the keys to the car to which Harold replies " We haven't got a car we've got a horse. "
To which the incredulous Rossiter retorts "who do you think I am ? Dick Turpin! "
Despite the numerous repeats one episode that is very rarely shown is the one where Harold buys a job lot of coffins much to Alberts horror. Rather than stay in the house with the coffins Albert prefers to sleep in the stable with Hercules the horse.
Sadly in real life Wilfred Brambell was very spiteful towards Harry Corbett and the two could not bear each others company. I believe that when they toured Australia with a stage version of the show Wilfreds behaviour and rudeness was so bad that the tour had to be cancelled.
A priceless sitcom but in both sitcom and real life , a bitter, tragic relationship between these two fine actors.
