Robert Culp and Bill Cosby starred in the TV espionage series I Spy as tennis star Kelly Robinson and his trainer, Alexander Scott. Robinson and Scott, however, were also international spies, and used Robinson's globetrotting from one tournament to the next as a cover for their high-risk assignments.

I always some good things about "I Spy" when Bill Cosby and Robert Culp dressed well in good suits so they would look like men.

"I Spy" will be the greatest show to watch.

1 Joe Posner from San Jacinto, CA: While many recall "I Spy" as the first American TV series to have a black(Cosby) as a co-equal with a white actor(Culp), few seem to remember how fashion-forward the show was for the time.
In the first season of "I Spy," Culp and Cosby frequently wore jacket and tie, a standard "uniform" of the time.
By the second season, however, things had loosened up considerably. Cosby was sporting a white Levis jacket, white jeans and white Adidas. Culp favored sweaters(v-necks, etc.) white pants and white Vans, without socks.
Keep in mind, in this era, Adidas were usually only worn by athletes and coaches. They weren't showing up on EVERYBODY'S feet until the '70s. Vans weren't the standard youthware they are today.
Looking back now, it's clear that "I Spy" was influential in the areas of race relations AND youthful fashion. Talk about a double threat!
In the '70s, I ran into Robert Culp at a typing service in Hollywood. This was the point in his career where he was focusing on his writing more than his acting career, He looked very fit in his jogging suit and running shoes, the new "uniform" of the era.
