The series that launched Peter Wyngarde as the flambouyant cravatted detective Jason King. In his time away from solving crime, King wrote novels centred around his alter ego Mark Caine. With a twitch of the tache King arrested criminals and the ladies.
Department S Fan Tributes
1 Joe Posner from San Jacinto, CA: I discovered "Department S" in the mid '80s, during a difficult time in my life.
I was working out of a day labor hall in downtown Los Angeles, struggling to survive, while pursuing writing on the side.
One night, after a hard day at a bottled water company, I turned on the television, cold beer in hand, and stumbled onto "Department S." I liked it immediately!
Peter Wyngarde' s flamboyant Jason King, bestselling novelist/detective, became a perfect alter ego for a struggling writer going
through tough times.
My life eventually got better, and I
escaped to a full-time writing job and a flat in the suburbs.
I will always be thankful to "Department S" and the entertainment, and escapism, it gave me in hard times.
